Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Rewriting The Wrongs Of Final Fantasy XIV

Let’s face it we all know that the original Final Fantasy XIV had its fair share of problems. Heck many gamers around the world will tell you that the game was just flat out unplayable. Well the good news is that the guys at Square Enix took this criticism on board and returned with the really fun MMO Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Let’s start with the presentation of the game. To say this is a good looking game really in an understatement. The Final Fantasy series is well known for creating just drop dead gorgeous worlds and this one is no different. One really cool thing about the visuals in the game is that while they are nice you do not need a super powered PC to enjoy them at their maximum. The game lets you have a great deal of say in the customisation of your character. As I write this I am struggling to think of another MMO that lets you have this much freedom in character creation with such an easy to use interface.

As far as the story in the game goes this is your traditional Final Fantasy stuff (no spoilers here) there are a ton of side quests and activities for you to take part in as well. The one downside about the story is that it would have been nice if there was more cinematic scenes with spoken dialogue.

The game play thankfully is just right now. From a game play point of view the game may seem very simple to veteran MMO players, but the simplicity works in the games favour. The combat is very easy to get to grips with and the party play is done very well in that for parts of the game you are kind of encouraged to go on your own and in other parts you do really need to be part of a party.

In all Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a wonderful MMO and you could quite possible say that it is one of the best 2013 has had to offer.
